Actor Vikrant Massey on Monday announced his retirement from acting, citing the need to “recalibrate and go back home” for his family.
In an Instagram post, the 37-year-old actor thanked fans for their immense support over the years and hinted at a final project in 2025. “Hello,
The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support,” he wrote in the note.
“But as I move forward, I realise it's time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor,” the 12th Fail actor added.
As per media reports, Vikrant is currently working on two films — Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. “So coming 2025, we will meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right,” he said.
“Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted,” Vikrant signed off.
Vikrant’s The Sabarmati Report co-star Raashii Khanna took to the comments section and expressed her shock. “What? No,” the 34-year-old actress wrote.
Fans found it hard to believe that the actor is taking a step back from acting. “Bro you are at your peak...why do you think like this,” one of them wrote. “Why would you do that.. ? 😮 There are hardly any actors like you. We need some good cinema,” another commented..
Vikrant made his acting debut with the 2007 television show Dhoom Machaao Dhoom. He gained popularity with the TV series Balika Vadhu in 2009, which led him to get a key role in Lootera alongside Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha.
The actor had his first lead role in the 2017 film A Death in the Gunj, following which he starred in blockbuster films like Ginny Weds Sunny, Haseen Dilruba, Love Hostel and 12th Fail.
Vikrant last starred in The Sabarmati Report alongside Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra, which hit theatres on November 15. The film, which showcases the events that took place on Sabarmati Express near the Godhra railway station in Gujarat on the morning of February 27, 2002, has collected a total of Rs 26 crores nett at the Indian box office.
