Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday unveiled the party’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, promising a caste-based census by 2025, a legal guarantee for MSP and scrapping of the Agnipath scheme.
The manifesto, called “Janta Ka Maang Patra-Hamara Adhikar”, advocated a PDA government. PDA is an acronym for Pichde (backward classes), Dalit and Alpasankhyak (minorities) that was coined by the SP chief.
“We have prepared this document after interacting with several social organisations and individuals. This is what the people expect from us and we promise to fulfil their demands if our INDIA bloc forms the government at the Centre. The people must defeat the BJP so that the Constitution and the country remain safe,” Akhilesh told reporters.
Akhilesh alleged that the Agnipath scheme had proved that the BJP-led NDA government was neither interested in providing jobs to the youths nor protecting the borders of India.
