National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the Congress was supporting his party candidates for three Valley seats and a decision would be announced in Delhi in the next couple of days.
If true, the move will be a clear signal to the Mehbooba Mufti-led Peoples Democratic Party that the Congress was siding with the NC in its fight against the PDP.
The NC and the PDP have decided to contest the three Valley seats separately, although both are members of the INDIA bloc.
“They (Congress) have clearly said that three candidates of the National Conference will get the full support of the Congress. There are some internal talks and it won’t be feasible to reveal them at this time but in the next two days, after going to Delhi, it will be made clear that the National Conference and the Congress will fight unitedly for all five seats,” Omar told reporters in Kashmir.
“(Both parties) will work tirelessly for their success. Today you saw our president Farooq Abdullah campaigning in Jammu province (for the Congress candidates). He was in Batote yesterday and Kathua today.”
