Union home minister Amit Shah addressed three rallies in Bengal on Wednesday, accusing INDIA bloc leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, of indulging in the politics of dynasty, corruption and appeasement.

Shah spoke at three rallies in Cotai, Debra and Purulia and participated in a crowd show in Bankura.

While levelling the charges against INDIA bloc leaders, Shah contrasted them with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who he claimed saw the entire country as his family and worked for its development.

“Consider the leaders of the INDI Alliance. Uddhav Thackeray wants his son to be the chief, Sharad Pawar desires the same for his daughter, Sonia Gandhi aims for her son to become the prime minister, and Mamata Banerjee's sole intention is to make her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, the next chief minister of the state,” Shah said at a public meeting in East Midnapore's Contai.

“Who will be their leader? When asked about the prime minister, they say it will be on a rotational basis. Can the country progress with this kind of leadership?" Shah asked.

Coming down heavily on Trinamool's alleged corruption, Shah said: “Several TMC ministers are in jail, and (Rs) 51 crore have been recovered from their minister Partha Chattopadhyay. On the other hand, they raided Suvendu Adhikari's house and couldn’t recover even 25 paise.”

Shah was referring to the police raid on the Nandigram MLA’s house at Kolaghat in East Midnapore late on Tuesday night and four days before the sixth phase of polls on May 25. BJP MLA Adhikari, who switched from Trinamool to the saffron camp months before the last Assembly polls in 2021, has moved court against the raid.

The police, however, had said that they searched Adhikari’s house for a local goon who was absconding in a case. Neither the person nor cash were recovered from the BJP MLA’s house.

Taking up the issue at the national level, the home minister cautioned Mamata.

“The more you (Mamata Banerjee) torture Suvendu (Adhikari), the more BJP will elevate him as a prominent leader.... There was a possibility of (TMC) getting two-three seats from Bengal but if this kind of oppression by the police continues, you will not get that even,” Shah said.

Shah again resorted to the saffron camp's communal rhetoric to attack Trinamool.

"Trinamool Congress came to power with the campaign of Ma-Mati-Manush but now that has changed to Mullah-Madrasa-Mafia. Bengal has become a safe haven for infiltrators. Due to infiltration, the demography of the state is changing, which is impacting not only Bengal but the entire country,” Shah said.

“Mamata Banerjee is sinning by allowing infiltrators to change the demography of Bengal. The BJP government implemented the CAA to give citizenship to refugees but she opposed it only to keep her vote bank intact. She is compromising national security for the sake of vote-bank politics,” he said.

Referring to the Sandeshkhali uproar over the alleged torture by local Trinamool leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his aides, Shah said: “The entire country was shocked..., but Mamata didi was busy protecting the culprits because she feared this might take away her vote bank. Finally, the court had to intervene and the criminal was arrested.”

Expressing confidence in BJP's electoral future, Shah said the BJP would win 30 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal and it would trigger the collapse of the Mamata Banerjee-led government.

"I am here to assure BJP workers that once we win 30 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal and establish government both in the state and Centre, we will incarcerate all TMC's hooligans. Everyone will be put behind bars. No one will be spared," Shah said.
