Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday demanded the resignation of governor C.V. Ananda Bose, accused of molesting a contractual employee, and said she would never visit Raj Bhavan as long as Bose was in office.

With an obvious reference to the police complaint of molestation lodged against him, Mamata told a poll rally in Hooghly's Saptagram: "The governor should have first submitted his resignation."

She was speaking at a rally at Dunlop ground in support of Trinamool's Hooghly Lok Sabha candidate Rachana Bandyopadhyay.

“I shall not visit Raj Bhavan if invited to go there. I would rather meet him on the road if the governor wants to talk to me. He should call me on the road. I shall not meet him there (Raj Bhavan),” she said.

On Friday, barely a week after being accused of molestation, Bose screened multiple CCTV footage of the premises from May 2 when the alleged incident had occurred. The objective was to clear the air over molestation charges. However, Mamata raised questions about Bose's selective screening of footage, which she termed were "edited".

Mamata alleged that Bose had shown only edited parts of the CCTV footage, whereas she has a pen drive with more embarrassing content.

"Yesterday, he (the governor) invited the press where he showed some edited videos…. Did he show the entire footage? I have the same video. There are more to come. I have got a pen drive of more scandals," Mamata said.

Although Raj Bhavan did not respond to Mamata's Saturday statement, Bose earlier accused Mamata of "dirty politics" and said he would not allow her "Didigiri".

The contractual employee, meanwhile, said she would seek President Droupadi Murmu's intervention. At the same time, she raised objections to the public screening of unedited footage where her identity was allegedly disclosed.

On Saturday, Mamata pivoted her campaigning on the dignity of women allegedly outraged by those in the BJP and the persons close to the party. Mamata again raised the Sandeshkhali issue, where an alleged video bared a supposed BJP conspiracy of fake rape complaints. In the video, a BJP leader was seen purportedly claiming that some women were paid Rs 2,000 each to lodge fake complaints.

In Hooghly, Mamata said: “To a woman, money does not matter, her dignity is more important."
