BJD promoting an outsider: Nadda takes dig at V.K. Pandian, call to bring BJP in Odisha

BJP national president J.P. Nadda on Sunday called upon people to throw out the Naveen Patnaik government and install a BJP government in the state saying only a change would usher in a new era of development in Odisha.

Addressing a public meeting at Ambapua in Berhampur in southern Odisha, Nadda came down heavily on the Naveen government for not implementing the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. “Around 10.74 crore families and 56 crore people have benefited from the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. But nearly 68 lakh families of the state have been deprived of getting the benefits of the scheme as the state is not implementing it. The government here needs to be changed,” he said, adding that this election is about taking the state forward. The BJP president’s visit follows that of Union minister Amit Shah.

Worthwhile to mention, Odisha is implementing its own health scheme — Biju Swastya Kalyan Yojana for the people.

Making a veiled attack on bureaucrat-turned-politician V.K. Pandian without naming him, Nadda said: “The BJD leadership is promoting an outsider in Odisha. An attempt is being made to hand over the reins to an outsider. Are there no Odias to lead the state? Does Odisha not have a leader of its own to take over the administration? Is there no son of the soil who can lead the state. This is the right time to bring the BJP to power and unlock the state’s development potential.”

Nadda listed out the number of schemes initiated by the Union government, including housing schemes and water for all, to drive home the point that the Centre was taking adequate care of the state. He also said that the Modi government was going to come out with a scheme to provide free electricity up to 100 units to each household.

Nadda made a strong plea for voting the BJP to power in Odisha citing developmental projects such as expansion of railway network, building of new airports and expansion of national highways that the Centre has initiated in the state.

Praising the BJP-led NDA government he said India had emerged as an economic powerhouse despite facing formidable challenges like the corona pandemic and the economic crisis generated by the Ukraine war.

“Our country will be the number three economy in the world within two years,” said Nadda.
