Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday exuded confidence about his party winning over 75 Assembly seats in Odisha to form government in the state on its own for the first time.

He also asserted that a Modi-led NDA government would come to power in Delhi again with the BJP crossing the 400-seat mark.

Addressing a series of meetings in Odisha, Shah said: “I have been visiting different parts of the country and reviewing all aspects. The party has already crossed 310-seat marks after the fifth phase of polling and in the next two phases, we will cross the 400 seats target. In Odisha, we will cross the 75 targets and form the government.”

On the other hand, the BJD continued to maintain that it’s a “day-dream of the BJP to form a government in Odisha. They will not be able to government in the next 10 years also”, the BJD maintained.

Like the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah also targeted the chief minister’s close aide and BJD’s chief strategist V.K. Pandian. On the other hand, Pandian maintained that it’s a “great honour” for him that all are targeting him and sparing Naveen. “None of them has the guts to attack Naveen personally,” he said.

Shah said: “Naveen Babu has become old. Give him retirement. How can a bureaucrat from Tamil Nadu rule this great Utkal Pradesh? A son of the soil who can speak in Odia language and take forward the tradition of Lord Jagannath should be given the lever of the power. Those babus who looted Odisha will be behind bars.” He addressed meetings in Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh districts.

Accusing the Naveen government of destroying the culture and tradition of Lord Jagannath in the name of tourism, Shah said: “Puri Shreekhetra has been turned into a commercial centre. Temples and mutts were destroyed in the name of development. The four gates of the temple are not being opened for the devotees.” He added how a conspiracy was hatched to stop the Rath Yatra and how Prime Minister Modi worked to keep the tradition intact.

Like Modi, Shah also raised the issue of the missing keys of the Ratna Bhandar (Treasure Trove) of the Jagannath temple and assured that once the BJP is voted to power, it would do the inventor of the Ratna Bhandar of the Puri Jagannath Temple.

Urging people to end “Officer Raj,” Shah also alleged that the free rice scheme has been hijacked by the Naveen government. “We are sending rice but they put their photos on the bags (jholas) on it and distribute it. Naveen Babu’s government is nothing but a “Jhola Wali Sarkar”.”

However, Pandian on Tuesday said BJP top leaders, including the Prime Minister, are making political statements on the missing keys of Ratna Bhandar. Pandian told the PTI, “The Prime Minister should find out where it (keys of Jagannath Temple) has gone if he has so much knowledge perhaps, I would humbly request the honourable PM, he has so many authorities under him, he would be having some knowledge, he can enlighten the people of Odisha.”
