The AAP has reworked its election pitch to reflect the imprisonment of its national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The party had previously launched separate campaigns for Delhi, Punjab (both of which it rules) and Haryana before Kejriwal’s arrest last month.
Launching the "Jail ka jawab, vote se" (Respond to the imprisonment with your vote) campaign, party national general secretary (organisation) and MP Sandeep Pathak said: “We will take this campaign door to door and request people to show their support. They are already worried and upset with the arrest of Shri Arvind Kejriwal.”
The AAP is contesting all 13 seats in Punjab and two in Assam on its own strength. It is also contesting four seats in Delhi, two in Gujarat and one in Haryana as part of the INDIA bloc. In Goa, it is backing the Congress.
In early March, the party launched three distinct campaigns for the seats in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana’s Kurukshetra constituency. These were: “Sansad mein bhi Kejriwal, tabhi Dilli hogi aur khush haal (With Kejriwal in Parliament too, Delhi will be
more prosperous)"; “Sansad vich vi Bhagwant Mann, khushhal Punjab te vadegi shaan (With Bhagwant Mann in Parliament, Punjab’s grandeur will increase)"; and “Badlenge Kurukshetra — Badlenge Haryana, abki baar INDIA ko jitana (Will transform Kurukshetra and Haryana, this time we must make INDIA win)".
