Private buses and minibuses will be fewer in number, several operators said. ”The drivers and conductors are not too keen to bring the vehicles out. Only a small fraction of the buses will be out on the roads,” said an operator of private buses in Calcutta and its adjoining areas.
Taxis will ply in the morning but several operators feel the number may not be adequate. App cabs will be available though.
Metro
Metro Railway will run its usual weekday fleet in all functional sections.
Dry day
Sale of liquor in bars and off-shops has been banned across the state on Tuesday, said excise officials and retailers. The ban extends to online sale of liquor, too.
Malls, plexes
Most of the city malls will follow normal timings except Acropolis Mall in Kasba, which is located next to a counting centre.
Acropolis Mall, which is within 100m of the counting centre at Gitanjali Stadium in Kasba, will remain closed throughout the day. “We will open at 6pm, according to police instructions,” said an official of the mall.
Restaurants
Most restaurants are going to remain open, barring those that are in the vicinity of the counting centres.
Weather
The Met office has predicted a “partly cloudy sky with a possibility of rain/thundershower”. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 34 and 29 degrees, respectively. The high humidity is likely to make the conditions sweaty.
