“This is my first visit to India and I cannot express how delightful it is. People here are so welcoming and so kind,” said Melania addressing the students later. “I learnt that your school’s name, Sarvodaya, means prosperity for all.”

Her visit coincides with the bitter violence areas in northeast Delhi have been witnessing since Sunday. Several schools remained closed today in these areas.

Melania was also seen seated on a tiny green chair, interacting with children. She visited a primary school reading classroom which she later mentioned a good initiative to let children explore books of their interest while increasing their reading habits.

In her address, Melania Trump mentioned that the happiness curriculum should be implemented not only in America but across the world.

“A short while ago I visited a classroom and observed its happiness curriculum. It is very inspiring to me that the students begin each day participating mindfulness activities. From mindful reading, telling a story to a friend, listening to another classmate or simply connecting with nature, I cannot think of a better way for all of us to start our day,” said the first lady.

She added that back in the US she works with children to promote similar ideas of wellbeing through her vast initiatives. Melania said she worked on three pillars: dangers of drug abuse, the importance of online safety and overall wellbeing of children.

Melania Trump’s visit was focused on Arvind Kejriwal governments special ‘Happiness Curriculum’ launched in July 2018. The curriculum’s objective is to make students become self-aware and mindful. They are taught various activities, including meditation, street plays, basic obedience and aims to reduce anxiety and stress levels among children.
