Elated with his thumping victory, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal thanked voters of Delhi on Tuesday, claiming this was the beginning of a new kind of politics.
Addressing hundreds of his supporters gathered at the party office since morning, Kejriwal said AAP’s victory had indicated that Delhi wanted to vote for a party which would ensure 24-hour electricity and quality education for its children.
'I want to thank people of Delhi from the bottom of my heart for reposing faith in their son for the third time. This win is not mine alone, but is of every person and every family which considered me its son... It is a victory of every person who is getting quality education and 24-hour electricity.
'This victory has given birth to a new kind of politics. Delhi has given its verdict that it will vote only for that party which will give education, 24-hour electricity... This is a good omen for the country. This very politics will take the country to the 21st century,' Kejriwal said to a roar of applause and cheer from supporters.
Flanked by his wife and both children, Kejriwal thanked Lord Hanuman whose blessings he had sought a day before the polls. He also said that it was his wife's birthday on Tuesday.
'Today's Tuesday, Hanuman's day.. I thank Hanumanji also. I thank my family, which worked hard with me. Today it's my wife's birthday too.'
Kejriwal and his supporters were then scheduled to go on a victory march, beginning from the party office at ITO to Raisina Bengali School in Connaught Place and collect his winner’s certificate from election commission officials.
However, it did not happen. He took his car and visited Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place to pay his obeisance to Lord Hanuman.
