A vintage romance enveloped this frame as The Sholay Girl actor and our model for the day, Bidita Bag, climbed up the wooden steps to pose in a Tarun Tahiliani asymmetrical kurta with embroidered crystals and sequins in a linear pattern, paired with a sequinned, embroidered asymmetric drape and sharara. For stylist Pinky Kenworthy, this Sangeet look came laced with a “1920s vibe”. “Sultry, quite mysterious in a way, but playful at the same time. The feather Be Chic handbag added to it and is a nice contrast to the haathphool. We added a pop of colour with the tomato red block heels from Rohan Arora,” she said.

Make-up pro Abhijit Chanda kept Bidita’s skin dewy and gave her a bronze winged liner on her eyes. The textured bun was made charming with floral hair clips and the mathapatti. “The shoes have a nice belt and a buckle at the back which make it great to dance around in at a Sangeet. The platform makes it comfortable,” said footwear designer Rohan Arora.

“Goddess”, “diva” and “princess” are the words that came to Pinky’s mind about this luminous chic look. Bidita wore a silk Ritu Kumar sari with “age-old” zardozi, with a twist to the traditional Bengali drape, paired with a Ritu Kumar batua. “We moved away from traditional colours, but we didn’t move away from the tradition of richness for a bride. It was regal yet light to touch,” said Pinky.

If the belt is a clincher, the red alta on her fingers was the cherry on the cake. Peach-pink blush, thin liner, mascara, glossy peach lips, a small bindi and open textured hair lent it a fresh-dreamy vibe. Ruby red velvet platform heels with zardozi embroidery are just right for your wedding day. “This style is preferred by most of the brides because it is a wedge platform. The fact that it has an elastic at the back makes it all the more comfortable to take it off during the pheras and wearing all over again,” said Rohan.

Radiant, fresh with a touch of tradition defined this ornate Ritu Kumar lehnga with floral motifs of Persia and a dash of geometry. “This is a Mehndi look for me. A fun outdoor moment of happiness. The look is beautiful and has a royal vibe, but then if you look at the make-up and jewellery, it looks quite unconventional. She is my fun-loving flower girl!” said Pinky.

A dramatic neckpiece and dark plum shoes were balanced out by a peach cheek and lip tint and mascara. “The shoes are one of my personal favourites. The basic inspiration was a necklace that my mother wore. It takes the shape of a necklace on your foot. This is perfect for those not looking for a wedge platform as they tend to be a bit chunky. Block heels work best. You need a good grip on your foot with those heavy lehngas,” said Rohan.

Bold and beautiful! Bidita slipped into a Tarun Tahiliani draped sari. Embellished with Swarovski crystals, you can dance the night away in this flowy ensemble. Spotted on Lady Gaga, too! Just right for your bachelorette party.

“This is kick-ass. She is out to party the night away with the girls. It just needs a clutch bag (Amrapali). She has these sexy high heels and she doesn’t need anything else. On her bachelorette day at least, she can look super hot and sexy… ‘watch me and I am going to set the dance floor on fire!”’ laughed Pinky.

Abhijit bunched up her in a topknot, gave her thick lashes and a coat of champagne on the eyes and filled in her lips berry.

For Pinky, the white couture Amit Aggarwal dress “moulded with signature recycled details” gave Bidita Bond-girl feels. “This is, for me, the epitome of elegance. The only embellished thing is her handbag (Love to Bag). She doesn’t care. She has worn silver jewellery, made her hair short and she is out there to make a statement at her own reception,” said Pinky. A textured bob, terracotta blush, pearl eyes and a bright red lip completed this retro-classic look. For Rohan, the champagne silk block heels can be worn with both Indian and western outfits.
