You decide how regularly you need to shower. It doesn’t even have to be a daily event: just don’t let your body heat up or allow it to stink! A daily shower can be good rule in warm regions, though. But you could keep in mind a few things when taking a shower, wherever:
1. Warm water over hot
If the water is too hot, it can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause dryness. Use warm water so that the cold doesn’t sting you. But some swear by a cold bath even at the height of winter!
2. Washcloth over loofah
Loofahs and body sponges collect dead skin cells and dirt in them and because they never get dried fully can become breeding grounds for bacteria. Washcloths are less likely to create these problems, especially if you use a fresh one each time you shower. If you are used to a loofah or body sponge, replace it every few weeks.
3. Use a simple soap
Antibacterial soaps can diminish good bacteria on the skin, so unless you have an infection or serious body odour, use a simple soap.
4. Focus on stinky spots
Scrub every part of your body well, but spend a few extra time on your armpits and groin, as those are the spots where the most odour-causing bacteria reside.
5. Dry and moisturise
Dry off by gently patting your skin with a towel instead of rubbing and apply a moisturiser when the skin is still damp. That way your skin will remain hydrated.
