Red Carpet look from 2021 MTV VMA

Delicate, whacky, stylish to blah - some of the looks that made us go yay or nay

Pretty in pink

Our modern-day Cinderella Camila Cabello and Good 4 U singer Olivia Rodrigo looked princess-y as they chose shades of pink in their attire. The Senorita singer looked very pretty in a Alexis Mabille Couture piece with a massive saddled bow while Olivia rocked a Atelier Versace off-shoulder number.

Co-ord suits

Shawn Mendes’s look spelt summer vibes on the red carpet and we can’t get over how handsome and cute he looked in the white suit that he fashionably accessorised with layered chains around his neck. If only every man could pull off such a look so effortlessly!

Sticking to the matchy-matchy vibe was singer Avril Lavigne who wore a fun and eye-catching chequered co-ord set with a metallic bralet. Seeing her on the red carpet made us go ‘Hey hey you you, we missed you!’

Quirk factor

Megan Fox left little to imagination as she walked the red carpet wearing a sheer nude dress with golden heels and gelled hair with a wet look. Even with such a pretty face, the whole look was blah, screaming out loud for attention. On the other hand, Normani chose one of the raciest outfits of the evening (just look at her micro-mini skirt) but she pulled it off with oomph. The sleek topknot and bold white jacket made for a power-packed look.

Purple Patch

What connected host of the night Doja Cat, Lil Nas X and Kacey Musgraves? Shades of purple with a hint of whack. A black bustier, a plum-meets-purple drape with thigh-high maroon boots, purple glittery eye make-up and pointy red talons summed up Doja’s looks while Kacey went OTT with a purple feathered hat, Valentino party dress of the same colour and red opera gloves. Lil Nas X oozed confidence in a stunning lavender Versace suit with a trail.

Jennifer Lopez might have skipped the red carpet but there was no missing her glam quotient in the stylish David Koma crisscross lace skirt, teamed with a long black top. JLo made us say “Yaaas queen!”
