Playing around with Very Peri, the Pantone Color of the Year 2022

Neha picks this easy-breezy romper for the Very Peri day look. “We have styled it cute and fun, to distinguish how this colour can go from day to night. We have given her sneakers with it and a belt bag,” she says. Open, wavy hair, sunglasses and minimal accessories complete the happy look.

Pinkish-violet bubbles bursting into strands of the bluish-lavender. That’s how Very Peri is captured on the official Pantone website. “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression,” it reads. We got stylist and designer Neha Gandhi Binjrajka and the talented make-up professional Airish Barik, to interpret the Pantone Color of the Year 2022 for The Telegraph.

For a sassy night look, a smart cropped top-pant set is Neha’s pick. Sleek earrings and a stack of bracelets add to the effortlessly stylish vibe. “We have played it soft for the day and strong for the evening. You are sure to stand out in a crowd. The accessories are there to complement the colour,” she said.

Airish plays around with a simple stroke of purple winged liner and matched it with glossy lips. “This works with any skin tone. It looks both bold and cute,” he says. Ankita slips on a white shirt and a pretty hairband that complements her eyes well.

Airish glams up the winged liner look for a party-chic look. “Try an ombre. The eyes already have purple. I have added lavender, fading into pink. It’s in the same family and the same look becomes gorgeous in no time,” he says.

Airish gets ‘Very Peri’ too! “There is a nice contrast of hues. The pink comes from eyeshadow, giving the look a cohesive wash,” Airish says about his look. We absolutely love the element of soft magic on his eyes.

I love how soft yet strong the colour is. Very Peri has multiple shades to it. The main thing is to decide when you are wearing it. And pick the shade with care. This was my first Very Peri shoot. When it’s a colour that pops out, I usually hold myself back because of my dusky shade, but I have to compliment the team today for creating a look that suits me and my skin colour and at the same time, it’s also a celebration of the colour. For me, Very Peri is the family of purple tones that comes with a lot of hues like lavenders, violets and pinks. They are fresh to look at. If you can wear them as is and if you want a bit of X factor, add black. Powder kiss lipsticks which you can dab and smudge, are cool too. It looks very fresh and naturally pouty.
