More than 30 years in Bollywood and more than 15 years of his own brand later, Manish Malhotra’s enthusiasm for all things new is so inspiring. The master couturier took a few questions from The Telegraph about designing the Seagram’s Blenders Pride’s limited-edition pack.
Congratulations on a lovely pack design. Was there a specific inspiration for the design?
The limited-edition pack reverberates with a contemporary design that represents glamorous curations, something that has been synonymous with my personal style for a long time. Inspired by the skilfully crafted smooth blend, the limited-edition pack is adorned with intricate patterns with warm metallic accents and tones that build a sense of glamour and celebration. My legacy, built over 30 years, is highlighted on the pack, which embodies a seamless blend of fine craftsmanship that reflects my signature style of glam and romance.
Why did you choose to collaborate with Blenders Pride for this pack?
I have had a long-standing association with Blenders Pride, and it is with great pleasure that I announce this collaboration. The limited-edition pack is a sophisticated and glamorous statement that combines exquisite taste and design, bringing together the precision and the bold, rich character of Blenders Pride on the same canvas, making a bold style statement that spells out ‘My Craft, My Pride’.
You have lent your creativity to so many things besides clothes. How similar or different is the process of creating a product vs an item of clothing?
I think creativity comes from the mind and not the product or clothing. If you are creative and want to design, you will design on any surface. The process of creating is always the same no matter what the product.
We know you love collecting objet d’art. What are some of your favourites?
I love collecting vintage silver artefacts. I absolutely love them as they add so much character to any background.
You travel so much. Where have you seen the most striking looking bar?
I personally believe that travel teaches you so much. I love travelling and honestly can’t wait for the world to open up again so that I can go travel again. So it would be unfair to mention only one bar. But I love New York, London, Switzerland, Doha and Dubai and all of these countries have such amazing architecture. Any restaurant or bar you go to is different from the other. Each of the places have their own characters and that in itself inspires you so much in terms of their design aesthetic.
Your Instagram feed is so feel-good. So many memories and emotions. What’s great about making memories now, in this pandemic time?
To begin with, I love the fact that we are so connected with the world now through digital portals. If we didn’t have that we wouldn’t have been able to connect with our loved ones during the pandemic lockdown. Whether pandemic time or any other time, making memories is important because at the end of it all, that is what will matter.
If the pandemic taught us anything, it is how not to take life so lightly. Make time for your friends and family and spend as much as time you can with them. Focus on yours and your loved ones’ health and well-being

We have all realigned our priorities. What’s on the top of your list now?
If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s how not to take life so lightly. Make time for your friends and family and spend as much time as you can with them. Focus on yours and your loved ones’ health and well-being.
What are you reading now?
Scripts for my new production company.
If you were to say ‘cheers’ to life with a song, what would it be?
I love listening to old Hindi songs. I think any of them would do.
