In a bid to make trendy, affordable sustainable clothes, 26-year-old Kavya Singh Kundu launched her eponymous label in November with a fall-winter collection. Inspired by the designer’s personal style, a lot of British artist William Morris and her love for all things bling and shiny, the label is born out of Kavya’s quest for style, sustainability and affordability, and the label’s aesthetics aim at creating designs that are “fun, modern and chic”.
“From farm to fibre to fabric, responsible sourcing makes each creation and each design unique — starting from the sourcing of materials to the end product. The latest fall-winter collection has been made using handwoven fabrics for most styles, apart from some organic fibre mill-made fabrics too, namely orange fibre and bamboo fibre textiles. The clothing line also comprises styles that use sustainable sequins that are cut from a 20 per cent recycled PET sequin film that is the best possible alternative available in the market now and still mostly unexplored in the Indian subcontinent,” said the designer.
