Insta worthy

‘If you are everything that you are really not you are Instagram worthy’

My husband is extremely active on Instagram. Occasionally I scroll through his account. Strangely I never appear in his posts. I didn’t really give it much of a thought till I found a highly edited photo of our vacation snap. He had filtered his photo to such an extent that he looked like Milind Soman without a beard. He had even changed his eye colour! What was shocking was that he had conveniently removed my image. When I confronted him, he told me, in not so many words maybe, but with his tone, which was worse, that I was not “Instagram worthy”. I am hurt. What is Instagram worthy?

If you are everything that you are really not you are Instagram worthy. Pouty lips, high cheekbones, arched eye brows, flawless white skin, contoured face, teeth like pearls, against a surreal or fantasy backdrop. You will look like a fake Michael Jackson. So go to Insta and just replace your husband’s pictures with Tom Cruise, Bradley Cooper, Hrithik Roshan or Daniel Craig. That will explain “Insta worthy” to him.

I am very fond of wearing rompers. But I find them impractical, especially when I am on a date and I need to go to the bathroom. And on other occasions. Is there any solution?

Don’t drink any liquid the day you decide to wear one. What else can I say? When on a date, if you take too long in the bathroom, he may think you are pooping. So? Do you really want to give him the impression that you don’t? However, let us stay away from the psychopathology of desire and just say that if rompers are a problem, why don’t you just stick to good old shorts and a top? After all, what are rompers? Just part dress and part shorts. Keep the two separate.

Not everything is a combo offer.

I am a 42-year-old man. While working out, I find cycling shorts or leggings to be quite comfortable. But someone tells me that such tight-fitting clothes are essentially for women. Is there any truth to this? It has been bothering me quite a bit. Now that I have become conscious, I feel that people are staring at me. Is there any way to look less conspicuous?

Fashion is no longer gender specific. You can wear a sari as long as you are comfortable. You can continue to wear the cycling shorts underneath.
