The fashion world is reeling under the impact of the coronavirus. London fashion week opened on Friday with most of the Chinese media and buyers not in attendance, reports The Guardian. British Fashion Council chief executive Caroline Rush announced plans to ensure Chinese media and buyers had access to news and images, the report said.

China and the neighbouring countries constitute the largest expansion market for luxury brands worldwide. Ralph Lauren sees its sales hit up to $70 million by coronavirus.

The fashion industry is doing its bit to help the situation. According to www.fashionunited.com, the LVMH (Louis Vuitton) group has donated $ 2.3 million to fight the threat while the Kering Group has provided another $ 1 million. L'Oreal has given $ 720,000, Swarovski $ 430,000 and Estee Lauder and Shiseido $ 290,000 each. Chinese conglomerates Alibaba and Tencent have donated $ 144 million and $ 43.25 million, respectively.
