White is enchanting. The world of fashion has had white on a pedestal as long as one can remember, for it is indeed a gentle force to reckon with.
All white collections have always been a hit.
So what is it about white that makes it spectacular? It is a tone of limitless possibilities and it suits everyone. When all else fails, think white. Crisp and striking. Think of Sridevi as Chandni in a white churidaar kameez, or Marilyn Monroe’s iconic white dress, or just Simi Grewal. White has magic.
Top white must haves :
1. White shirt/ T-shirt/ ganjee
2. White summer dress
3. White earrings
4. White kurta and pyjama
5. White pants, preferably linen
But there is white and there is white. If two whites are used in one look, a third colour should be added to stir things up. Such as white and off-white with tan.
When can one wear white? Many would think white is a summer tone. But it is a favourite winter look in the international fashion circles. White can be worn anytime and every time. Day and night, and all seasons.
White for basic
A lot can be done with white as regards accessorising. It is the perfect background for all colours.
Go all out.
Gold and silver with white will make any outfit glamourous. Since layering of jewellery is trending, pair delicate chains with a white top for an evening soiree or maybe even a brunch.
My top combos with white are:
White + black
White + chocolate
White + tan
White + turquoise
Care tips
Whites need attention. Make sure to air whites regularly. Humidity causes yellow stains, especially if the clothes have been in the cupboard for a long time.
Dry cleaning the delicate whites is the best option. Softening agents and colour protectants should be used when washing at home. Make sure to hang white inside out in the cupboard. Ironing should be done with the garment turned inside out.
Many people feel conscious while wearing whites. Please be cool and note that everything becomes better with love, care and time.
As summer approaches, it is advisable to invest in white muslins and pure cottons. The colour of peace, it is soothing and is known to have a huge impact on moods, making one feel softer and serene.
Stay easy stay stylish.
