Boys on social media have been trying out something new of late. A number of them are putting on miniskirts. The skirts quite often are tennis-style and come in soft pastel colours. These are usually paired with sweatshirts and knee-length socks.

Despite the fact that it’s incredibly refreshing to see boys finally reject gender roles, one wonders what is the reason behind it? Generations of men over thousands of years have spent their whole lives fitting into the gender stereotypes, and suddenly boys are low squatting and moving to Doja Cat, in skirts.

And they are being validated constantly and receiving thousands of likes and comments, mostly from girls. Why? After being forced into unrealistic gender roles for millennia, seeing men reject such gender roles perhaps makes girls feel that men will not hold them to any such role either. Perhaps, only perhaps. But hope springs eternal
