We are all in a hurry to get over 2020, but not before we get over with the year-ender bizarre fashion list. No prize for guessing the top three fashion trends for 2020, though: these are masks, WFH clothes and Zoom-friendly accessories. But the weird trends are gems, literally. A selection.

⦿ Gold- and diamond-studded face masks: It didn’t matter how poorly people were faring; some would have their masks jewelled. An Orissa-based businessman reportedly spent over Rs 3 lakh on his gold mask.

⦿ Mask-dress: While on the subject of masks, there was this turtleneck dress that had masks attached. Never mind the fact that every child has pulled up the turtle neck of their top to cover their nose on a chilly winter day. But if designers turn it into a dress and give it a name, so be it.

⦿ KFC Crocs: That is Crocs that have a piece of decoration KFC chicken fry stuck on top. KFC collaborated with Crocs for this killer. Any takers? As if that was not enough, Bottega Veneta has Maggi stuck on shoe tops.

⦿ Men’s inflatable pants: If you could have balloon skirts, why should men be left out? Designer Harikrishnan had inflatable latex pants that looked like balloons.

⦿ Distressed stockings: So far distressed jeans was in vogue, now it’s distressed stockings. But at least you won’t have to spend a fortune on these, because it’s easy to distress sheer things. One wear and the nylon stockings are ripped out. But Gucci decided to sell theirs for $190.

⦿ Three-toed sandals: Givenchy in their Spring Summer collection of 2020 launched three-toed sandals. The first toehold houses the big toe, the second houses the next two and the third the rest two. Somewhat similar to Scooby-Do’s feet?

⦿ Spiked clogs: Givenchy also launched spiked clogs for fashion wear. These are suede shoes with multiple metal spikes that look ominous with a strap. Givenchy please don’t give ideas to serial murderers.
