The new ingredient in serums that is being talked about is arbutin, which is a molecule taken out of the bearberry, mulberry or pomegranate plant and prevents skin from formulating melanin.
Arbutin inhibits tyrosinase, an enzyme that helps to produce melanin, creating a more even complexion. It is used in a range of products, from serums, to moisturisers, toners and masks. Arbutin and “alpha arbutin” are fundamentally the same; alpha arbutin is just the chemically processed version used in skin care products.
BENEFIT OF ADDING ALPHA ARBUTIN TO SKIN ROUTINE
Skin-brightener: Stops formulation of dark spots; brings brightness to skin.
Effective at fading scars: Has the ability to fade dark spots and acne scars, but you also need to give it time and patience.
Improves uneven skin tone
Mild on the skin: It is good for sensitive skin because it is mild and also irritates the skin less than other skin-brightening products.
Protects from sun damages
Very helpful in preventing hyperpigmentation and discolouration.
You can use it twice a day, morning and night, after cleansing the skin and before moisturising it. It is a safe ingredient suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin.
