Street style that gained momentum in the 1990s with styles that defined casual and cool is back on the trend-o-meter but with a slight shift in the sensibilities of the urban youth. It is no longer just about acid-wash jeans, sneakers and graphic tees. The contemporary street style is smart, structured, quirky and classy with a subtle hint of casual in appearance. From the classic A-line flared skater skirts to the contemporary favourite coords, street style has evolved over the years. The Telegraph creates a colourful, contemporary street-style mood board for autumn, with model Arpita Sinha as our muse.

A classy blend of prints inspired from a Moroccan escapade, pastel shades and smart silhouette made of silk, the coord set from PDS by Sneha exudes a fun vibe as a smart street style with a swish touch.

I like my street style to be casual and effortless. I prefer layering and experimenting with colours, mixing and matching with subtle nudes. I also prefer a capsule wardrobe for a more sustainable lifestyle. One classic I absolutely love and can never be tired of is white tees and blue jeans

ARPITA SINHA on her street style

The solid-colour Amarillo slit cut-out dress from Couche is made of Crepe Lana stretch and is all about comfort wrapped in a luxury fabric and a modern silhouette. The scarf to tame the hair and Just Cavalli watch from SH Mumtazuddin Times add a boho-chic touch to the street-wear look.

Bringing together the classic shades of black and white, the modal satin jacket dress from Mehek Talreja is designed with a contemporary quirky print and vintage fringes along the sleeves. The smart and quirky street style with a classic touch is accessorised with jewellery from Michelle Alexander.

Arpita channels a chic look in this printed pant, organza overlay top and printed organza jacket from Studio Radical, inspired by calligraphy text. The street style inspired by amalgamating two trends — sheer fabrics and layering — is accessorised with jewellery from Divinus Creations. The roadside parked Vespa acts as the perfect backdrop for the shot.

STYLIST SPEAK

For me street style defines easy, effortless yet head-turning. Autumn is the season of contrasts, neon colours, pattern-on-pattern and pop colours. Breezy silhouettes, light fabrics, bright colours make up this chic street-style lookbook — Sumit Sinha, stylist

HAIR AND MAKE-UP NOTE

For Mehek’s outfit, we chose kohl eyes and orange lipstick with a messy bun. Studio Radical’s look was accentuated with coloured liner and semi-nude lips along with a mixed-style hairstyle of classic middle-parting and contemporary low ponytail. The outfit from Forty Four required a touch of vibrant shades in the make-up too, with a messy ponytail. Couche’s look was completed with nude gel eye make-up and soft curls with side front braids — Abhijit Paul, make-up pro
