The celebration of the Festival of Lights is incomplete for most without a grand party at the end. From arranging card games to the floral and light decor, Diwali parties are fun and full of activities. While decking up in gorgeous styles is a must, keeping the styles easy-breezy definitely makes the job easier and adds to the fun, too. Actress Richa Sharma shows how to get the party looks right for this Diwali in this exclusive The Telegraph shoot:

An easy-breezy party style, the magenta one-shoulder gown from Label Priyanka Bhalotiaa at Estree is designed with layered cuts to add a dose of drama to the simple style and wire detailing along the shoulder and bust creating beautiful leaf motifs.

The midnight-blue spaghetti-strap gown from Label Priyanka Bhalotiaa at Estree is all about making a style statement with a dose of sequin drama. The one-sided drape style over the gown adds to the party feel with its black and silver embellishments.

Richa cut an elegant frame in this ethnic outfit from Ruceru. Made in a beautiful lavender shade, the draped skirt is paired with an intricately embroidered bustier and styled with a cape, detailed with embroidery work along the border.

Ditching the usual choice of red, Richa channelled a glam look in this crimson fusion gown from Ruceru, designed with an attached drape and highlighted with resham and dori work.

“The Festival of Lights is of course about celebrating our near ones. But my Diwali isn’t just limited to that. For me, it also means celebrating everybody around me and spreading happiness as much as I can. I celebrate the festival by lighting diyas every year.”

HAIR, MAKE-UP AND STYLING NOTES

“Diwali means the start of the party season. So, we have created the looks accordingly incorporating bling, contemporary cuts and easy-to-wear outfits in fusion styles. We chose dark as well as vibrant shades. We also chose styles that are easy for movement in a party and accessorised the looks with appropriate jewellery to create overall glam looks.

For hair and make-up, we chose simple styles and kept it minimal. Hair needs to be done very carefully for Diwali, keeping in mind the activities of lighting diyas or candles. We have tried soft curls, middle-parted and side-parted pony looks and poker straight hair with a twist styling in the front to prevent the hair from falling on the face while lighting diyas or candles. For make-up, we kept it minimal. We have used luminous light texture base, peach and gold or bronze blush, thin liner look or double-coated mascara looks for the eyes and colours like plum, wine and red for the lips to complement the outfits,” said Kaushik and Rajat, hair, make-up and styling duo.
