Mandir Bari Ghat Day end at this Uttarpara ghat. One near-rewarding spell of rain just over, the skies are readying for another. Right there on the weathered steps she sat reading her book, pausing, underlining sentences

Kumartuli Ghat While Durga and her family waited in their sheds in Kumartuli, Gopal bathed at the ghat. He had come with his mother, all the way from Ultadanga in an autorickshaw. She lathered the idol with body wash. There was shampoo from a separate tube. “Don’t be naughty,” she scolded as she tied his hand with the end of her pallu and lowered him into the waters. Bath over, she asked, “Ebar khushi to... Happy now?”

Sovabazar Ghat The immeasurable river is their playground. And so, Neel, Raj and Samrat dived away from various heights — the jetty, top of motorboats, roofs of piers. The boats come and go as does the applause

Babu ghat This ghat in Uttarpara has been freshly watercoloured. The poles of the pier cast a shaky silhouette in the twilight while the frogs, birds and insects held their own background concert. As if that wasn’t enough, the great artist placed a boat right in the middle of it all.
