Music has always been intrinsically associated with the celebration of the biggest festival in our city — Durga Puja. Be it the loudspeakers in the neighbourhood playing the songs of aagomoni or the latest film songs setting the celebratory mood for everyone, the release of Puja albums in the ’90s or the singles that are released now— the association that music shares with this autumn festival is wrapped in nostalgia and keeps renewing with the changing times.
SVF Music, in association with The Rajbari Bawali, is set to release its new music video today paying an ode to this association of music and Durga Puja. The song Chaarpashe aalo hok, SVF’s Pujo song of unity, celebrates the traditional culture of releasing songs before Puja. Lyricist Srijato Bandyopadhyay has added his magic touch to the tune by penning the words, conveying a message of hope and positivity. The song, composed by Indraadip Das Gupta, is a one-of-a-kind collaboration that will feature a harmonious union of voices of 100 musicians — starting from the legendary Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty and his daughter Kaushiki Chakraborty to contemporary favourites, such as Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury and Timir Biswas and even emerging talents like Antara and Ankita Nandy and Aheeri and Anandi Chatterjee. In the video, music composer Joy Sarkar will join the musicians and showcase his instrumental skills. “Crafting the music for Chaarpashe aalo hok has been an incredible journey, involving months of dedicated research. Bringing together a diverse array of talented musicians from different backgrounds, including international mastering, truly showcases the collaborative essence of this project. The music in Chaarpashe aalo hok isn’t just a composition; it’s a blend of creativity and unwavering commitment towards Indian music and blending it with different Western forms as much as possible to keep it pleasing within normal listening limits, which I believe will deeply resonate with our audience,” said Indraadip Das Gupta.
The magnificent heritage structure of the exquisite boutique property, The Rajbari Bawali, which retains the charm of Bengal’s bygone era, will feature in the song’s video shot by actor-director Parambrata Chattopadhyay. This video, celebrating the spirit of togetherness, will focus on diverse talents gathered on the Rajbari premises through his directorial lenses.
The video will also feature differently-abled artistes, focusing on inclusivity and embodying the message that this festival is a celebration for all. “Directing the music video for this Puja song was a remarkable journey. Our production team consisted of a whopping 260 individuals, including 100 highly skilled musicians. We dedicated ourselves throughout the night, persevering until early morning, to capture the mesmerising sunrise, which adds a whole new level of grandeur to this Puja song, unlike anything seen before. It’s a treat to the eyes and ears that stands in a league of its own,” said Parambrata Chattopadhyay.
Watch and listen to this musical extravaganza on SVF Music’s YouTube channel, Hungama, Wynk, JioSaavn, Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Resso, Swadhin BD, TikTok BD, Facebook, and Instagram. “This music video is our best gift to Bengal and the world, spreading the Puja spirit!
