Iswar Sankalpa, an NGO, hosted its 16th annual programme with a special cultural performance recently. It was an opportunity to celebrate stories of resilience and joy. The programme included a screening of a photo documentary by Jayati Saha, depicting the journey of Iswar Sankalpa and a musical performance based on an adaptation of Tagore’s songs and poetry. Actors Koel Mallick, Abir Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, Gourab Chatterjee, Devlina Kumar and Anindya Chatterjee were present on the occasion.

The performance celebrated love which fosters resilience and
strength to navigate the life struggles of homeless people with psychosocial conditions. “The movement from the streets to the stage of each person has been fraught with memories of actual loss of family, friends, a home, health, education and even identity. And yet the strength of humanity allows our people to laugh, live and move to a rhythm. This is what our celebration of 16 years represents symbolically. The resilience of the spirit of Iswar Sankalpa,” said Sarbani Das Roy, secretary and co-founder.
