FICCI FLO Kolkata, in collaboration with TATA Steel Kolkata Literary Meet, organised an event titled 'Heroinism’ last month. Hosted at The Park Hotel, the event had actors Huma Qureshi and Ratna Pathak Shah as the speakers, exploring the multifaceted and dynamic roles of women in their conversation. Malavika Banerjee, director of Kolkata Literary Meet, steered the conversation and provided attendees with an insight into the diverse experiences and challenges that women face in various spheres of life.

“It was an honour to moderate such a dynamic and engaging conversation. 'Heroinism' provided a platform to explore the complexities and triumphs of women's experiences," said Malavika.

While Huma spoke about her book Zeba, Ratna reflected on her dynamic roles and the evolving landscape of women's roles in the film industry. "Being part of this event was an enriching experience. It was heartening to witness such meaningful discussions on the diverse roles of women in society,” said Huma. Ratna, reflecting on the evening, said: "The event was thought-provoking and inspiring. It highlighted the importance of acknowledging and embracing the changing roles of women in today's world.”

The event encapsulated the spirit of empowerment, leaving the audience inspired and enlightened, and gave perspectives to the audience on the same from diverse voices in the cultural landscape.
