A journey that started with an idea and a dream to own an F&B venture, has now lead to a 1,000sqft cafe in Tangra. Currently operating as a 20-seater, Tummy Tales Cafe has a simplistic look with pop colours to enhance the mood and lend a casual, youthful vibe. On the menu are dishes like Chicken Souvlaki in Tzatziki Sauce, Chicken Shish Taouk, Quarto Thin-crust Pizza, Mango Sour and Churros served with hot chocolate sauce and others.

Tummy Tales Cafe is located on the fifth floor of Active Business Park, in Tangra and is currently open for dine-in and home delivery between noon to 8pm. “I always wanted to have a cafe and it all started with conversations with my sister and sister-in-law. My nine-year-old nephew is behind naming the place and coming up with the logo. My cousin Troy Chakraborty, who has been a pillar of strength and support, and I have been working on this idea since 2019. We had thought of opening something in UP’s Ballia, where he runs a school, but due to the pandemic we couldn’t. That’s when this property came up. I started with a cloud kitchen model in October 2020 and got a good response. Around December-January is when I stared conceptualising Tummy Tales and in five months it was ready. My daughter is a hotel management graduate and it was her seniors, Siddhika Ghosh Chowdhury and Talib Hussain, who helped me a lot in getting the cafe done,” said the owner of Tummy Tales Cafe, Sharmistha Bhattacharjee, who has been running the heritage resort property, Itachuna Rajbari, for the past nine years.

In addition to food and beverage, the cafe offers gaming options on its in-house PS4, provided the billing amount is Rs 499 or above. They also look forward to hosting karaoke sessions around Durga Puja, if the pandemic situation improves.

On the menu

A Continental favourite, the creamy and cheesy Au Gratin is available on the menu, priced at Rs 299 and Rs 349 for vegetarian and non-vegetarian variants.

An old classic, Chicken Stroganoff with a sour cream, mushroom and onion-y gravy, comes for Rs 349 at the cafe.

Fish Fingers are made here with bekti and a plate contains six pieces. These are served with French Fries and a special, house-made sauce, and are priced at Rs 319.

Call them Drums of Heaven or Lollipops, these have been a fixture on cafe menus for years. Priced at Rs 249, the Drums of Heaven are served with sauce and chopped salad on the side.

A glass of good old, simple Cold Coffee never gets old. Grab one at the cafe for Rs 149.
