PhotoSolidarity by Chennai Photo Biennale Foundation
With support from artists across the world, the Chennai Photo Biennale Foundation (CPB) has put together a sale of special-edition prints with the intention of raising funds for Khalsa Aid India and Protsahan India Foundation.
The names of the artists include the likes of Arko Datto, Avani Rai, Catherine Leutenegger, Chandni Gajria, Nishat Fatima, Paroma Mukherjee, Raghu Rai, Ronny Sen, Soham Gupta, The Confluence Collective and Zishaan Akbar Latif. Each photograph is available in two sizes in editions of three each size.
“The PhotoSolidarity print sale is an initiative by the CPB Foundation to bring photo artists together in its network, to contribute their works towards a sale to raise funds for Covid relief. Profits from the sale will be shared with Khalsa Aid and Protsahan NGOs that are working on the ground. We are witnessing great support and participation from our audiences from different parts of the world in the first few days of our launch, who are able to collect artist works through the fundraiser. We are also continuing to add more artist works in the hope of being able to raise more funds to extend support in a different region as well. The Foundation deeply appreciates this gesture by all artists who have promptly reached out to offer their work and continue to do so in spite of the harsh realities faced by them. Through the fundraiser, we are simply doing the best we can with the resources we have given the current situation. Solidarity is the need of the hour,” said Team CPB.

Prinseps Spring Sales
Sunil Madhav Sen
Proceeds from the auction of four significant works of art are set to be donated by Prinseps Auction House to Masina Hospital, Mumbai and to the Welfare of Stray Dogs. This includes the works of Indian artists such as Gobardhan Ash and Sunil Madhav Sen.
“The years 2020-2021 have been catastrophic, with innumerable people and organisations being devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. We at Prinseps are doing our bit to help society through our upcoming auctions. All proceedings from four significant works of art will be given to the Masina Hospital, Mumbai as well as to the Welfare of Stray Dogs. We hope that these proceeds will brighten up the lives of the needy in the same way that they embellish the walls of their new owners. A recent study has concluded that looking at art actually makes life more beautiful,” said the Prinseps team (https://prinseps.com).

Strawberry Fields, Michelle Poonawalla
Ahmedabad-based 079 Stories gallery has brought a number of artists together, including Michelle Poonawalla, who have donated their artworks for a fund-raising sale. Called Instilling Hope, the sale will be held between May 28 and 31 and all the proceeds are set to benefit charities working to tackle the pandemic.
“While we navigate the challenges of the pandemic, we felt it was important to come together as an arts community. Everyone has been affected in some way or the other, including the art fraternity. We felt as a gallery it was important to show our support through launching Instilling Hope, a fundraiser sale from May 28 to 31, which will offer a range of works donated by artists including Michelle Poonawalla. As a gallery we are pledging 100 per cent of our proceeds from this sale to charity, including Breathe India Fund and Jagrut Jan Trust. Art is such a powerful medium, it is something which has the power to heal or create a sense of hope and it is important as an arts community we come together and try and do something positive,” said the gallery (https://079stories.com).
