March 26 saw the preview of artist Prithviraj Choudhury’s works inspired by the world of mythology at JW Marriott Kolkata’s JW Lounge.
Curated by Debjani Roy, the series of work explored the state in between myth and logic, that inspired him to incorporate them into visual repertoires. Radha-Krishna, Durga — the Shakti, Shiva’s Tandaav, Enchanting Gopis with Colours of Joy, Peace and Harmony, Mahabharata, Kirtan, Ravaana vs Jatayu were a few of his works that were showcased.

The artist is inspired and fascinated by the timeless beauty of Indian mythological characters and traditional Indian elements and his style entails painting traditional subjects with an approach of contemporary abstract fusion. “The enchanting timeless beauty of the Indian mythological stories on my canvas reflect the rich cultural heritage of Bengal with a blend of contemporary impressions,” said Prithviraj.
