The fourth edition of Flavours of Bakery spread the Yuletide cheer at Acropolis Mall with a smorgasbord of baked goodness from different city brands. The Cake Boutique, Khadure, Royale Confectioners, Flurys, Cakelicious, Mambo’s and Bakery by The Lalit Great Eastern lured gourmands with their signature flavours. Besides cakes and pastries themed on the festive season like Plum Cake, Dundee Cake and Fruit Cake, there were Strawberry Tart, Chocolate Éclair, French Vol Au Vent, Chocolate Cup Cakes, Brownies, Red Velvet Oreo Ice Cream and other delights.
Actress Sayantani Guhathakurta inaugurated the festival with K. Vijayan, GM, Acropolis Mall, and Rukmini Paul, president, Pathchala, an NGO working for poor children in and around Kalighat. The festival started off with joyous Christmas carols and dance by the children of Pathchala who later indulged in the sinful bites on display.
Speaking on the occasion, K. Vijayan said, “We at Acropolis Mall have been organising Flavours of Bakery for the last three years and we hope guests enjoyed their winter shopping spree and also the freshly baked cakes. We chose this occasion to celebrate Christmas and share our joy with the children of Pathchala. It is heartening to see their smiles.”
One of the bestsellers, these lollies in attractive shapes including Santa, Smiley and Christmas Tree matched the mood of the festival.
Macaroons in different hues and flavours were a major attraction.
Freshness of strawberry over a bed of cream in a tart was delightful.
Caramel Cream Cheese Delight was irresistibly creamy and delish.
Lemon Tart, Mud Pie and Banana Pie teased gourmands with their rich textures and flavours.
