With the aim of spreading love and togetherness over coffee, 8th Day Cafe and Bakery opened its third outlet in Calcutta on February 12. Quaint and minimalist decor, featuring a prominent “LOVE” doodle on the wall, photographs and painting, make for a soothing environment at the cafe. There is also a patio, if you are in the mood to enjoy the weather with your cuppa.

The photographs on the wall are minimalist but add definition to the decor. Some of them are taken from coffee farms where 8th Day sources their coffee from.

“We had been looking for a location in Salt Lake for the past two years and then, finally opened here. We have tried to keep the same vibe here as in the other two branches, with the paintings and the photographs. There is also plenty of greenery with the plants around the cafe,” said Rakesh Sikdar, director, 8th Day Cafe and Bakery.

“Our primary theme is how coffee brings people together. For us, community is very important, loving your neighbour is very important. We want people to come here, be together, we want it to be a place where love is known. When they have a cup of coffee here, we want guests to feel like they belong,” said Sane Leach, the branch manager for the Salt Lake cafe. She will be leading it along with her husband E.J. Leach.

The almost 2,000sqft outlet is the largest from the brand. It has almost 60 seating, including the lovely patio. There is a conference room as well, available for booking.
