Xiroverse, a “Proof of Play” lifestyle app for mobile gamers with Social-Fi and Game-Fi elements, launched a waitlist campaign to give people early-access to its gaming platform and received a resounding response. On September 1st they announced that, they have crossed 100,000 signups in the first 30 hours.
Three billion gamers worldwide are anticipated to spend US$203 billion per year on gaming and in-app purchases like NFTs. The category is greater than movies and music combined, indicating a trend towards spending more of our time in virtual worlds. Millions of gamers have played Miniclip, Farmville, and Club Penguin, all popular free-to-play games on the internet laid the groundwork for the next generation of gaming platforms. As we enter the new creator economy, Web3 and the Metaverse enables gamers to partake in these games differently. They can now have ownership of their gaming experience. This will allow us all to become creators in the future, and might just lead to different, innovative ways to potentially earn some money by contributing to platforms and communities. Instead of limiting players to a single central authority, the next generation of new gaming platforms will empower them.
Roshan George, the founder of Xiroverse believes that NFT-gaming has only scratched the surface so far. NFT-gaming and Web3 have attracted million of users over the past few years. With Alien Worlds users surpassing 2.5 million, we are at the onset of the next revolution in the gaming industry. Web3 games have unfortunately lacked the gaming experience we’ve gotten accustomed to with games like Fortnite and PubG, but that is soon changing. Illuvium and Star Atlas developing universes in which people can explore, conquer, and battle. Xiroverse on the other hand are going after the mobile gaming segment, to capture a market share of the 2.2 billion active mobile gamers globally.
“One of the biggest problems Web3 and the Metaverse faces, is the high barrier to entry. The onboarding needs to be a lot simpler,” says Roshan George, founder of Xiroverse.
For organisations like Xiroverse, the end-game is to make Web3 the new normal. Gaming will forever provide value to people, as long as it remains fun! When another layer that enables players to earn money is added, stakes are naturally much higher. This could diminish the gaming experience for some who try and chase profits. The dream for many would be for games like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans to automatically onboarded their users to a decentralised blockchain, and give their gamers ownership over how they spend their time gaming. That allows the entire Web3 gaming industry, to give many more gaming companies and gamers the means generate income streams previously inaccessible to small players. “Their success will eventually decide ours. Which is why it’s in our best interests to prioritise gamers and studios equally,” says Roshan George.
The team at Xiroverse was thrilled to have over 100,000 users on their waitlist in 30 hrs. The team ramps up to launch their Beta version of the Xiro App, which will eventually be on the PlayStore and Appstore. Roshan George added, “community will always come first, and we want to be the biggest out there.”
