Loss-making Vistara said the launch of its international flights was part of its plan to attain profitability.

The new services could also ease pressure on global fares, which rose as much as 32 per cent after the grounding of Jet Airways in April.

In June 2018, Vistara became eligible for overseas operations after it acquired more than 20 jets. However, it took longer than expected to receive further regulatory approvals.

Vistara will be flying its Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, with both business and economy classes to Singapore.

“We are excited to start with Singapore as our first international destination, which we see as a very important market, given the opportunities it presents for corporate, business as well as leisure travel,” Vistara’s chief executive officer Leslie Thng said.

Vistara’s flight will depart from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11.45pm and arrive at Singapore at 8.15am (local time) daily. From Singapore, the flight will depart at 9.30am (local time) and reach IGI airport at 12.45pm daily.

The first flight from Delhi to Singapore will start from August 6, while the flight from Singapore to Delhi will start from August 7.

From Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Vistara will start flying for Singapore at 11.55pm and arrive at 8.15am, from August 7. From Singapore, the first flight will depart at 10.30am and reach Mumbai at 1.55pm, from August 8.
