Toyota Kirloskar may price the rebadged Maruti Baleno, christened the Glanza, at a higher price than the Baleno.
As the company prepares to launch the hatchback Glanza this week in New Delhi, the only differentiator between the two vehicles will be the sales and service facilities offered by the two companies.
“The Baleno and the Glanza will have the same features. What we can offer to our customers is the quality of service for which we are known the world over,” said a Toyota spokesperson.
On the pricing of the Glanza, the spokesperson said: “We might be asking for a premium for our service.”
Maruti retails the Baleno in the price range of Rs 5.59 lakh to Rs 8.90 lakh for the petrol variant. The diesel variant is priced between Rs 6.74 lakh and Rs 8.73 lakh.
Toyota, which has a dealer network of 359 in the country, will service the cobadged cars through the same network.
On whether the company was adding to its sales outlets, a source said: “We have enough capacity to service the co-badged cars.”
Toyota believes in maintaining a lean inventory at its dealers and supplies replacement vehicles only.
“We supply vehicles on forecasts from our dealer principals. We ensure that month stock level does not exceed the max yard capacity level,” said the spokesperson.
