N. Ganapathy Subramaniam, chief operating officer and executive director, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), on Monday retired from the country’s largest IT services firm.

He had joined TCS in 1982 after completing his Masters in Mathematics from the University of Madras. According to the company’s website, he has attended the executive programme for growing companies at Stanford University.

During his tenure, Subramaniam held many key leadership positions in TCS across client delivery, business development, integration of businesses and product development. As head of banking and financial services practice for TCS for close to five years, he was instrumental in consolidating TCS’s knowledge base, calibrating domain centric offerings, creating opportunities and laid the foundation for its verticalisation.

TCS CEO K. Krithivasan had recently said that TCS does not plan to appoint a replacement for Subramaniam and that his duties will be redistributed.
