Suzuki launches eVX at auto show

The company’s Indian arm Maruti Suzuki India is among the major manufacturers participating in the show that has returned after three years

Auto Expo 2023, India’s flagship motor show, kicked off on Wednesday with the global unveiling of Suzuki Motor Corporation’s concept electric SUV ‘eVX’, which is slated to hit the market by 2025.

The company’s Indian arm Maruti Suzuki India is among the major manufacturers participating in the show that has returned after three years.

The Concept eVX is a midsize electric SUV concept designed and developed by Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), Japan.

It will be powered by a 60 kWh battery pack offering up to 550 km of driving range on a single charge.

India has the potential to become the number one automotive market in the world and small cars have an important role to play in it, SMC representative director and president Toshihiro Suzuki said.

Hyundai Ioniq

Hyundai Motor India on Wednesday launched its all electric model Ioniq 5 priced at Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The model is based on the dedicated battery electric vehicle platform E-GMP. Hyundai said the price of Ioniq 5 is introductory and would hold for the first 500 customers.

MG Hector price

MG Motor India on Wednesday announced prices of its next-gen Hector, ranging between Rs 14.72 lakh and Rs 22.42 lakh (ex-showroom). Hector is now available in five variants — Style, Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro. The SUV is available in five, six, and seven-seater configurations. The nextgen Hector has six airbags and a 360-degree HD camera.

Kia to invest Rs 2000cr

Kia India plans to invest Rs 2,000 crore over the next four years to scale up its presence in the electric vehicle segment, a senior company official said on Wednesday. The capital will be spent on manufacturing and infrastructure development for EVs.

Greaves

Greaves Cotton on Wednesday unveiled its range of electric two-wheelers under the Ampere brand series — Primus, NXG and a multi-utility scooter NXU which can be also used for deliveries. In the three-wheeler segment, the company unveiled an electric passenger vehicle Greaves ELP, cargo Greaves ELC and a futuristic cargo concept Greaves Aero Vision.
