The state witnessed an over 100 per cent growth in the sale of electric vehicles (EVs) in FY22-23, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), Bengal chapter.
The total number of EVs sold in FY 22-23 stands at 13,254 units compared with 6,059 units in FY 21-22, registering a growth of 118 per cent, stated Soham Misra, state chairperson of FADA, Bengal.
Of the 13,254 EVs sold, 9,579 were electric two-wheelers, 2,212 were electric three-wheelers, 31 were electric commercial vehicles and 1,432 were electric passenger vehicles. Electric two-wheelers witnessed the maximum growth of 322 per cent over a low base of 2,267 units sold in FY22.
However, e-three-wheelers saw a contraction of 34 per cent. Electric four-wheelers registered a 241 per cent growth over FY 21 when only 419 EVs were sold. The state posted a 6 per cent growth in auto sales with 9,73,921 units in FY23 over 9,18,696 units in FY22.
