Seshagiri Rao Metlapalli Venkata Satya, one of the foremost figures of the Indian steel industry, is hanging up his boots after an eventful stint of nearly a quarter of a century with India’s leading domestic steel maker JSW Steel.
A notice to the bourses announced on Wednesday that Rao, who was the joint managing director, would cease to be a whole-time director on the board of JSW Steel effective from April 6, after his three-year term ended on Wednesday.
JSW Steel further added that he superannuated from the services of the company and consequently stepped down from the board. He will, however, continue to be associated with the group as ‘group CFO’.
“The company places on record its deep appreciation of the valuable services rendered by Seshagiri Rao M.V.S. during his tenure with the company,” the notice said.
Rao joined JSW Group in 1997 as chief financial officer and went on to become a member of the board on April 6, 1999.
He played an active role in the growth strategies of the JSW group since then and was involved in all strategic decision-making within the group.
