Ratan Tata, the legendary industry titan, passed away late on Wednesday at the age of 86. He was undergoing intensive care at a hospital in Mumbai.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Ratan,” the Tata Group shared the news on X. Gradually, the nation bid Ratan Tata farewell.
Narendra Modi: Extremely pained by Tata’s demise
Prime minister Narendra Modi shared that he would meet Ratan Tata frequently as the CM of Gujrat. “We would exchange views on diverse issues. I found his perspectives very enriching,” Modi wrote on X.
Besides calling Tata “a compassionate soul,” Modi added that the former “provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses.”
“Extremely pained by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti,” concluded Modi.
Rahul Gandhi: Lasting mark on business and philanthropy
Rahul Gandhi called Ratan Tata “a man with vision.” “He has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy,” wrote the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha.
“My condolences to his family and the Tata community,” he added.
Amit Shah: Selflessly dedicated to India’s development
Amit Shah was also “deeply saddened” by the death of Ratan Tata, “a true nationalist” in his opinion.
“He selflessly dedicated his life to the development of our nation. Every time I met him, his zeal and commitment to the betterment of Bharat and its people amazed me,” wrote Shah.
“He will live on in our hearts,” Shah added.
Mamata Banerjee: Irreparable loss for Indian business world
The Chief minister of West Bengal said Ratan Tata was “a foremost leader of Indian industries and a public-spirited philanthropist”.
“His demise will be an irreparable loss for Indian business world and society,” Banerjee added as she sent her condolences to Tata’s family members and colleagues.

Sachin Tendulkar said Ratan Tata “moved the nation” in his life and death.
“I was fortunate to spend time with him, but millions, who have never met him, feel the same grief that I feel today. Such is his impact,” Tendulkar wrote.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher said Ratan Tata's legacy "inspired millions" and would continue to do so "for centuries" long after his death. Kher said he would never forget how Tata praised his comedy in London a few years ago. "You taught me how to live with values and principles of life! You will always remain my most favourite G.O.A.T. Jai Ho!” wrote Kher on X.

Actor Chiranjeevi said Ratan Tata’s demise marked “a sad day for all Indians”.
