In India, the hotel chain will focus on smaller towns. Rajamundry, Katra, Dehradun, Dahisar, Jammu, Palolem, Dibrugarh, Morbi, Junagadh, Dalhousie, Bodh Gaya and Jalandhar are among the locations in India where the company is eyeing new rooms across different brands.

“We are bullish on the growth prospects of the hospitality industry in the coming years. Tier 2 locations are under-supplied in terms of quality rooms and we are going where there is demand. Our experience in Gorakhpur is encouraging,” said Ajay Bakaya, managing director, Sarovar Hotels. The expansion will be through management contracts in line with an asset light approach followed by most players in the hospitality industry.

In Bengal the company currently has a presence in Siliguri after separating from Peerless Group over management of the latter’s hotel in Calcutta.

However, Bakaya said that expansion in the city was on its agenda in future.

Dar Es Salaam and Ethiopia are among the overseas locations where Sarovar is looking to expand. “Our expansion projects are on track,” Bakaya said.
