Enfield temporarily halts production at its facilities in Chennai

Move aims to protect employees during the pandemic; the company also intends to undertake maintenance activity during this time

Royal Enfield has joined several other manufacturers by temporarily halting production at its facilities in Chennai to protect employees during the pandemic.

The company’s units across Thiruvottiyur, Oragadam and Vallam Vadagal will remain shut between May 13 and 16. During this time, the company will undertake maintenance activity at its manufacturing plants.

Meanwhile, Skoda Auto is planning an aid package in cooperation with the Volkswagen Group consisting of in-kind and financial donations totalling one million euros.

Free service

Maruti Suzuki India and Tata Motors have extended free service and warranty period up to June 30, 2021.

For Maruti the extension is for warranty and service contracts expiring between March 15 and May 31 and for Tata Motors, it is for similar contracts expiring between April 1 and May 31.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor and MG Motor India have announced similar extensions of vehicle warranty and service schedules.

MG Motor’s customers will now be able to avail their schedules till July 31, 2021.
