The Punch.ev and the Nexon.ev of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), the EV arm of Tata Motors, have bagged 5-star Bharat-NCAP safety ratings.
The Punch.ev received the highest ever score — 31.46/32 and 45/49 points for adult occupant protection and child occupant protection, respectively.
The Nexon.ev scored 29.86/32 and 44.95/49 points for adult and child protection parameters, respectively.
Minister of road transport and highways of India (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari said: “The certification aligns with the Indian government’s vision for safer vehicles in the country and emphasises the role of Bharat-NCAP in making India’s automobile industry ‘aatmanirbhar’.”
Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said, “Safety is now a top priority for the Indian car buyer.”
The Punch.ev, since its launch, has 35 per cent of its owners from the rural markets. It has sold 10,000 units.
Kia exports
Kia India has exported over 250,000 vehicles cumulatively since 2019. The company has shipped 255,133 units internationally to over 100 markets from its Anantapur manufacturing facility.
The Seltos has contributed 59 per cent of the company’s overall overseas dispatches. Sonet and Carens contributed 34 per cent and 7 per cent, respectively.
BMW launch
BMW Motorrad India has launched the BMW R 1300 GS in India. This adventure motorcycle will be available as a Completely Built-up Unit and deliveries will commence from the end of June. It will retail at ₹20,95,000 ex-showroom.
