Sanjiv Paul, vice- president of safety, health and sustainability at Tata Steel, has been elected as the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Region Council for the year 2022-23.

In addition, Shiv Siddhant Narayan Kaul, managing director, Nicco Engineering Services Limited, was elected as the deputy-chairman of the CII eastern region council on Saturday.

Earlier, Prashant Sharma, managing director, Charnock Hospital and SKM Group, has been elected as the chairman of CII West Bengal State Council, while Sucharita Basu, managing partner of solicitor firm AQUILAW and independent director on the board of various companies, has been elected as the vice-chairman of the council.

The CII has over 9,000 members from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 300,000 enterprises from 294 national and regional sectoral industry bodies in the country.

The present president of the CII is T.V. Narendran.
