Ekagrah Rohan Murty, the four-month-old son of Rohan Murty, has become a ‘crorepati’, with grandad N.R. Narayana Murthy gifting the baby Infosys shares worth Rs 245 crore.
N.R. Narayana Murthy is the co-founder of the country’s second largest IT services firm, which has a market cap of Rs 6,65,041 crore according to Monday’s closing prices. For the quarter ended December 31, Murthy in his personal capacity held 1,66,45,638 shares, or 0.45 per cent, of Infosys.
Regulatory filing on Monday showed that Murthy gifted 15,00,000 shares of Infosys to Ekagrah Rohan Murty, constituting 0.04 per cent of the company’s equity in an off-market transaction that was executed last Friday.
The Infosys share had then closed at Rs 1,634.90 on the BSE.
Based on that closing price, Ekagrah Rohan Murthy’s holding is worth Rs 245.23 crore.
Shares of the Bangalore-based firm settled lower by 1.99 per cent on the BSE at Rs 1,602.30 on Monday.
Due to the transfer, Murthy’s stake in Infosys will come down to 0.41 per cent.
The development comes days after Sudha Murty took oath as Rajya Sabha MP in the presence of husband N.R. Narayana Murthy.
Sudha Murty, 73, is the former chairperson of Infosys Foundation and the author of several books.
