Ambani has identified three verticals for his three children — telecom and digital business for elder son Akash, retail for twin sister Isha and new energy business for youngest son Anant.

At the Reliance Family Day on Wednesday, Ambani dwelled on the goals that they have to achieve. His speech was released to the media on Thursday.

He said that Reliance will complete its 50 years in the next five years and he wants to spell out its expectations from the leaders and employees.

“Under Akash’s chairmanship, Jio is rolling out the world’s best 5G network across India, at a pace which is faster than anywhere in the world. Jio’s 5G deployment will be complete in 2023,” he said.

He pointed out that Jio Platforms, which houses its digital service business, should now get ready for India’s next big opportunity — to provide unique digital products and solutions to both domestic and international markets.

On the retail business, which is spearheaded by Isha Ambani, he said it has grown rapidly and emerged as one with the widest and deepest reach in India, across all product baskets.

“But I know that all of you in the Retail Team are capable of chasing even more ambitious targets and goals.’’

Commenting on the new energy segment that Anant has joined, he said Reliance is making rapid progress in getting its Giga Factories in Jamnagar ready.

Meanwhile, RIL said in a separate announcement that its arm will be acquiring at least 51 per cent stake in Lotus Chocolate Company.

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd, will acquire 65,48,935 equity shares of Lotus representing 51 per cent of the paid-up equity share capital of the company from its current promoter and promoter group at a price of Rs 113 per share aggregating to Rs 74 crore.

New Delhi: Anant Ambani, the youngest son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, will wed Radhika Merchant, the family announced on Thursday.

The ‘roka’ or engagement ceremony of Radhika, daughter of Shaila and Viren Merchant, and Anant was performed at the Shrinathji Temple at Nathdwara in Rajasthan on Thursday in the presence of family members and friends. A statement issued by the family, however, did not say when the wedding will take place.

Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita had in June this year hosted a lavish ‘arangetram’ ceremony for Radhika in Mumbai. It was the first on-stage dance performance of Radhika, who is a trained Indian classical dancer.
