The growth rate of electric vehicles (EV) is the same as the internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles at Mercedes Benz.
Both are growing at 10 per cent, said Mercedes Benz India CEO and managing director Santosh Iyer on Monday.
The company has witnessed a 5 per cent penetration in sales from EVs in H1 2024, having sold 470 EVs. The company’s total H1 sales stood at 9,262 units.
The SUV bodystyle continues to be the preferred choice in the electric sphere for Mercedes Benz India.
About 75 per cent of its EV sales are from its e-SUVs. And keeping in mind the strong preference for the bodystyle, the company has launched a seven-seater EQS 580 SUV on Monday at ₹1.41 crore. It has a range of 809 km with a 122kWh battery. It joins the EQS 580 sedan, the EQA, the EQB, the EQE and the EQS Maybach making it six offerings in the company’s EV portfolio.
