Mercedes Benz India Limited (MBIL) will launch five more vehicles in 2023, which will be a mix of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicles.

It has already launched the AMG E53, AMG GT 63 e-Performance, AMG A45, G400d, and AMG SL55 earlier in the year and will launch the upcoming new generation GLC on August 9.

In the rest of the year, it plans to launch a mix of top-end vehicles, priced above Rs 1.5 crore, along with what the company calls its core luxury vehicles.

Merc will further expand its local assembly of EVs, said Lance Bennett, the new sales and marketing chief of MBIL, on the sidelines of the media drive for the second-generation GLC.

While the supply of EVs has been a challenge for the company with waiting periods extending over a year, Bennett said there have been improvements in the supply situation with average waiting periods down to three months.

The second generation GLC, which will be launched on August 9, comes with a mild hybrid powertrain with 48-volt motor for both the petrol and diesel variants as does the C-Class and the S-Class.

“We will have more mild hybrid powertrains in our models,” said Bennett.
